La Urbana

La Urbana on Divisadero. Dionne's pick! This was a hip take on Mexian-ish food. "Modern Mexican Cuisine" they call it! I can't really remember how well we liked it since I got behind on my posts.  I'm sure we had margaritas! This was the first R. Club after little Stella's birth. This gathering was a toast to her, and Julia and Steph's January birthdays!  Here's little Stella! Jan. 26, 2014.

West of Pecos

West of Pecos - Texas-style, ranch-theme, and southwestern-ish food at this cute spot on Valencia x 16th in the Mission. We were missing our fourth limb today, because Steph is ONE week from giving birth to her baby girl! We reminisced about how many kids have been born in our group since the start of Restaurant Club in May 2005!!!  It's crazy: Katya, Matthew, Nick, Izzy, and soon - baby Wiley. We agreed that R. Club shall continue so long as we are living and able :) Food highlights: brussel sprouts (sounds bizarre, but this app was sweet, crispy, with some kind of delicious creamy sauce), and the lobster (or crab?) salsa thing was also pretty amazing. Green chile mac n cheese was mediocre. Gail and I ordered the artichoke filled with crab and shrimp for dinner. Very creative, and I thought, delicious. Not too heavy. Dionne had the big, juicy burger. I loved the mousse we had for dessert because it was thicker than most. Overall - great food, loud, but cute environment, a...

1760

That's the name, and that's the address of this TWO-week old restaurant (at the time of visit!).  Can't believe we scored a seat at this bright, spacious, and yummy new restaurant.  The menu was small enough that we probably tried at least half the items on the menu.  Every thing was really great.  The corn-filled ravioli, pictured below, was incredible.  As soon as you bite into the pasta, the corn comes exploding out of it in a sweet, creamy bite.  Yeah, it's that sexy.  The "deconstructed" marshmallow thing was superb.  The hangar steak was a hit.  Steph still pregnant!  This was a Sunday night, but it worked for us.  Highlight of my weekend.

Blue Plate

Blue Plate in the Mission was Stephanie's pick.  Steph is pregnant at this R. Club!  Hurrah.  I think the food was pretty good.  I can't remember at this point.  But I do recall it was reasonable and of course, we had a great time.  This was an oldy but goody.  August 16, 2013.

Baker & Banker

Dionne's pick.  A tiny little place in lower pac heights.  Very cute.  Great appetizers.  Entrees were ok.  Very pricey.  This was the first R. Club after Gail gave birth to Isabel.  Was wonderful getting together!  R Club lives on...year 8!!!

Coco 500

August 23, 2012: Stephanie's pick. We had such a fantastic time and this R. Club.  Into our 7th year, we know each other so well, and have been through SO many life changes together.  We are really fortunate to still all be together, keeping up this tradition.  Whilst many others have failed, SF Restaurant Club lives on....I just love it! In the heart of SOMA, over a meal of batter fried green beans (Yummm!), heirloom tomato salad, truffled squash blossom flatbread (delish), and homemade pasta (for 3 of us), and a fine bottle of syrah (thank you, Jarrod), we shared our lives' current events, our hopes for the future, the ups and the downs, and we of course love and support each other so much, it made my heart feel like it was bursting when I got home that night. I realize this is a sappier blog - can't help it :)

Bar Tartine

July 12, 2012: Dionne's pick. This was a fun pick by Dionne and we had Amy Peterson as our "special guest."  The food and menu were definitely stretching out on a limb, with some interesting combination of flavors.  I think we liked, but didn't love, the food.  But of course, the company was wonderful and that's what it's primarily about!  Love these gals :) Original photo of Bar Tartine expired, but here is one of me in July 2012! Lol.
