Garcon: A French dining experience

Voila: Garcon was this months' pick. French food is always a lovely treat. This was a cool restaurant in the Mission District. I can't recall whose pick this was!  Can't recall any exciting news either, because I've fallen WAY behind on posting!! Mal mal!  (I think this was Dionne's pick)

The Corner Store

The Corner Store was fun pick, in the Fillmore area.  Our special guest was Karen Tang!!  This was a nice change, across from a Target store. LOL! http://www.thecornerstore-sf.com/ (I think this was Gail's pick.)

Baker Street Bistro

Baker Street Bistro - an oldy, but goody in San Francisco's Marina/Presidio area (around since 1991; ancient by SF standards!) We couldn't believe NONE of us have been to this lovely French restaurant. We were all together again - yay! Life is moving forward...6 kids among all of us, with Nicholas turning 3 this weekend. Crazy! BSB was a true homage to French cuisine. From the perfectly sculpted fries (which came as part of the moules frites) to the buttery escargot, this was a decadent retreat from the overly-hip, often-pretentious san francisco dining scene.  The spot was teeny tiny but the food was not. I got the idea to come here after drooling through its 10 minutes of fame on Check, Please! It lived up to its reviews. The desserts were extremely decadent - rich mousse, nice creme broule, and the best (in my opinion) was the balsamic strawberries with pepper and vanilla ice cream. YUM.  xoxoxo. June 27, 2014.

Central Kitchen

We found ourselves in the midst of San Francisco hipster town: Potrero Hill. This was very much the after-work tech scene (Steph's pick). This modern, open restaurant is about two years old, and is bordered by a salumeria and a lively bar. It's theme is "locally sourced" (is it ever not?) and from what I recall, Gail, Stephanie and I enjoyed the food. It was a small menu, with not overly-large portions. Again, posting too late, I don't specifically recall what we ate. That said, we missed Dionne sorely at this gathering and we thought fondly of her during this difficult time (the passing of her wonderful mother). It wasn't the same without her. Thank god we have each other! May 9, 2014

La Urbana

La Urbana on Divisadero. Dionne's pick! This was a hip take on Mexian-ish food. "Modern Mexican Cuisine" they call it! I can't really remember how well we liked it since I got behind on my posts.  I'm sure we had margaritas! This was the first R. Club after little Stella's birth. This gathering was a toast to her, and Julia and Steph's January birthdays!  Here's little Stella! Jan. 26, 2014.
